about this blog

I’m Sandra, I live in Dublin, and I write things down sometimes.

Likely to find here: feminism, law, science, geekery, atheism, psychology, snark. My background is in law, but I’m not a lawyer (yet. Possibly ever.) I struggle with mental illness and I mention that a bit here too.

This blog’s address is MerrionSquare because it’s one of my favourite bits of Dublin city centre. I was living near there when I created this blog.

Its title is ‘Eppur Si Muove’ because of the apocryphal legend that Galileo, having been forced by the Church authorities to recant his theory that the Earth revolves around the Sun, muttered ‘eppur si muove/it still moves’ as he exited the room. Despite only being a story, it fulfils a symbolic value: no matter how much rubbish gets thrown around, however much pseudoscience and false thinking, it still moves.

It was moving before us and it’ll move after us, so we’d better get used to it.
